Program overview:
This program offers a detailed examination and analysis of over 40 classical yoga postures. All major categories of asana are explored: standing poses, backbends, twists, forward bends as well as inversions and restoratives.
Course components:
• Accurately practice and teach asana by breaking down the poses into parts
• Adapt postures with the proper use of props
• Wisely and safely adapt poses for body type, level of flexibility and/or strength
• Modify poses or support students with specific needs: gender, age, injuries, pregnancy, menstrual cycle etc…
• Develop and maintain a well-rounded personal asana and meditation practice
Key elements for a yoga teacher:
• Strong teaching skills
• Effective verbal communication
• Proper demonstration techniques
• Observing, correcting and adjusting with confidence
• Intelligent lesson planning and sequencing
Program content is taught through these methods:
• Developing a home and classroom asana practice
• Developing a well-rounded basic meditation practice
• Small group assignments and peer-based learning and teaching
• Regular written homework assignments
• Final examination both theory and practical
Contact hours:
• 170-180 hours of actual class time
• 20-30 hours of home practice and homework assignments
